In a bowl, whisk together all the ingredients for the custard. Heat a non-stick skillet, and coat with butter.
Soak the bread in the custard for 30-60 minutes per side until saturated.
Add the soaked toast to the pan, and cook over medium-high heat until browned.
Flip over, and cook until browned.
Cut each toast in half, and top with sugar, fresh fruit, whipped cream, and/or chocolate sauce.
